Before you begin

Inform the children that the classroom is divided into two parts, one is water and one is land. Let them know they are not allowed to step into the water during the game. Place the fish cards upside down in the water a short distance away from the shore. Depending on the length of your poles and the material out of which they are made, it may be a good idea to give the children an admonition regarding safe handling of the poles.

To play

The children catch fish with the magnets and identify the note printed on each card. Play continues until the children have caught all the fish. Repeat the game if you like.
